Our organizations were particularly shocked following the revelation of several situations of abuse, often of a sexual nature. Our organizations condemn them in the strongest terms. However, they wished to go further and supported the initiative taken in 2018 by the Minister of Cooperation to promote an integrity charter for the entire sector, thus complementing the work already carried out within many organizations. Recently, in July 2020, the Belgian parliament amended the law on international cooperation to establish this charter as a basic element of the cooperation integrity policy while providing for severe penalties in the event of non-compliance by organizations.

• We work with a sufficiently directive and clear code of ethics. This code of ethics is signed by all those who officially work for our organization within the framework of development cooperation.
• We regularly raise awareness, including our partners, and organize training.
• We are taking steps to control integrity risks.
• We include the necessary integrity provisions in our contracts with our partners.
• An "integrity advisor" is available to give advice with confidence.
• We organize checks to improve our integrity systems.
• A confidential point of contact is available for lodging complaints.
• We follow up on complaints and take appropriate action immediately.
• We communicate about integrity globally at least once a year.
• We work with others to continuously improve our systems.
